Now that the camp video is finished, I have to start from scratch on the next one. It's going to be several months before the next video is ready, but I promise that it'll be worth the wait!
Animan has received many requests to show his drawing process. This "drawing tutorial" is the first step in that direction!

ReplyDeleteHi Animan! Can you tell me the name of the software you use to draw this picture. please?
ReplyDeleteIt's "Animate Pro 2" made by Toon Boom.
DeleteGlad I found this site. I've always enjoyed this type of art style, like Tex Avery's World of Tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou're living in Asia now? What part? Just went to China for the 2nd time in my life this September -- first time was back in the 80's as a kid so it's so different now. And there's rumors that I have unknown relatives in Taiwan when my grandfather was fundraising for Sun Yat Sen.....
Being compared to Tex Avery in ANY way is a huge compliment! I'm glad you like Animan's (my) art style.
DeleteJapan is pretty much the animation capital of Asia, so it makes sense that Animan would be living there even though he's not keen on most of the anime being made there nowadays...
I'm a fan of Japanese anime too, although their story telling (and animation style) is quite different. They pay a bit more attention to characterization compared to current American cartoons, and their stories (at least what I watch) tend to be more complex. I hate their love of ambiguous endings -- pretty much every series I've ever loved has had the worst finales. Aso interesting that Japan has started farming out some work to Korea, like the US started to do back in the day (at least for really major ongoing series, so they can get a lot of episodes produced).
DeleteApparently Hangzhou is trying to position themselves as an animation center too; the guides said they're starting to host annual animation conventions.
Someday, I'll have to do a post about anime--how it started, why it's the way it is, what I like about it, what I dislike, etc. Living in Japan, I get a lot of chances to see anime on TV, but I've pretty much had my fill!
