Important Message For Animan's Customers in the EU

As most of you know, I sell my videos through Selz and they informed me that from January of next year, all Animan digital goods sold in the EU will be subject to the sales tax rate of that country, and customers pay that tax to me when they make a purchase. Then, I must report and pay those taxes back to the EU.

I feel as if I were sleeping and somebody poured cold water in my ear!

  1. I'm not sure what would happen using Paypal. If Paypal is required to report sales made through them for "goods and services", then I will be probably be charged for the tax, whether or not I collect it from the buyers.
And I agree with you completely. This move by the EU will probably reduce sales, instead of generating more money through taxes.

  2. Why don't you just stick to everyone paying you for the dvds by mail ONLY to avoid all taxes!

    1. I thought of that! But shuttling myself to the post office all the time would be a hassle.
      Update:
I was able to compute and submit the form for my UK/EU sales to the British tax office. When I went to pay by credit card, I couldn't, because they require a registration number they didn't give me! With all these built-in roadblocks, they have sabotaged their own purpose. I'm still waiting to hear back from them!
Until they remove the limitations and blockages, there's a good chance that they'll never get their money.
Personally, I hope they get everything that's coming to them. ;)
