Animan's Favorite Italian

Some time ago, Animan's World featured this photo of Rossano Brazzi, taken in the 1950's when he was filming "South Pacific" in Hawaii.
Needless to say, the swimsuit is fabulous! I always assumed that the movie studio told Mr. Brazzi to wear this tiny suit for publicity reasons. I found this picture in an old Playboy magazine from the '60's in a series of articles about "Sex in CInema".

But the other day, I happened to find two other pictures of our Italian gentleman, wearing what appears to be the same little swimsuit.
The guy is hot, he knows it, and he lets the world get a good look. He's an Animan dude.

  1. How interesting! He was rather a hunk, and handsome with it.
Not 1950s but set then, and in Italy too, I recently watche The Talented Mr Ripley.
Oh that beach scene early on! Matt Damon and Jude Law in swimming trunks, mmmm!

Rossano Brazzi "South Pacific" 1958 I've seen it many times I like it but the film I recall is "Summertime" 1955 w/ Katherine Hepburn. Rossano Brazzi was so handsome in this film, with the camera lingering on his dark, tanned face, he was 39 at the time. Manly.

    1. He was very good in "South Pacific", but I prefer "Summertime", which you mention. In that film, he looked marvelous, and the character he played was so sincere and loving. That's the moment I fell in love with HIM!

  4. Cannot remember if Rossano Brazzi is still alive, but when I was growing in Italy in the late 1950's and parts of the 60's he was a male sex symbol, Regarding The Talented Mr Rippley I remember a scene where Matt Damon and that other young actor are nude in the tub and there is an instant view of at least one cock....

    1. I believe that Mr. Brazzi passed away in 1994. Postwar Hollywood seemed to have a love affair with France and Italy, and many films were made situated in those countries. What a pity Hollywood didn't put Rossano in more of them during his zenith.
I have never seen The Talented Mr Rippley but I know that one of the characters is named "Dickie"--maybe that has something to do with the cock you saw....?

    2. I saw that movie years ago. It is possible that Dickie showed his dickie. LOL!!! Incidentally do you like my picture ?

    3. Yes, it's a very academic-looking picture. You are standing there next to a bookcase and a big globe--like a modern-day navigator. And Dickie looks very big and healthy!
