I'm delighted that you like the trailer! I just finished composing and recording the musical soundtrack. Now I must add the sound effects, and there are a good many of them. Then, I must add the Spanish subtitles to the Spanish version, and the movie will be finished. No use rushing these things.

DeleteHello Animan, I'm looking forward to the release of your newest movie. I like that you chose to use the Greek 'Heracles', as apposed to the much over used Roman 'Hercules'. Also, did I see an homage to Disney's 1958 Maleficent in the Minotaur's horns? It would have been just TOO perfect if you'd have the Minotaur say something along the lines of "Now shall you deal with ME, oh prince...' just before he mounts the demi-god.). Like many others here have noted, your animation style has progressed to even greater levels. With your ability to draw in so many different styles, your works sometimes harken back to those "Hanna-Barberra Saturday mornings" so many of we gay men remembered as children. I loved watching the way they used to draw the shape of the derrière on Superman from the Superfriends (or the Wolverine on the X-men), and how we as pre-pubescent boys subconsciously wished they'd have shown those heroes doing naughty things to each other. I got sort of an idea/request/challenge for you. In honor of Marriage Equality's SCOTUS confirmation, how about you do a (gasp) non-porn, PSA type of Gay Right's History ala School-House Rock! I know YouTube has got Varla Jean's Gay History from the first year LOGO was on the air, but what I'm thinking of is an actual "I'm-just-a-bill, We-the-people, Conjunction-junction-what's-your-function" sort-of story telling PSA. I can see it putting to use your skills for humor, story-telling, animation, and musical composition. Just like in those School House Rock shorts, you could point out the repeating pattern of how America always starts out opposing any sort of social changes at first, but about every 25-50 years or so, there comes an event (freeing the slaves, women's voter's suffrage, civil-rights, gay-rights, women's lib, marriage equality, etc.) that with hard work, manages to over-come entrenched oppressive "traditional beliefs" which eventually a no longer the status-quo. What do you think about that idea, huh? I know I'd pay for it, even if it wasn't pornographic (although, since it would be aimed at a primarily adult audience, there's nothing stopping it from being a little bit risqué.).
ReplyDeleteHi DCP. Yes, I guess I did make the Cretan Bull's horns look like Maleficent's--putting those surface lines (stripes?) on the horns makes them look more 3D, so I borrowed the idea.
DeleteSchool House Rock has done some excellent videos in the past, and I think someone with a flair for that sort of thing should create one to commemorate Gay Rights History.
While I'm sure that a lot of my (Animan's) fans would enjoy such a diversion, they'd probably rather have me do the kind of video that initially won their attention in the first place--something they can enjoy repeatedly.
My last video was finished over 6 months ago, and then I had major surgery with prolonged hospitalization. As if on cue, other urgent and exasperating impediments to completing Heracles appeared one by one in my life, not least of which was the loss of my Selz shop. My fans have silently and smilingly stood by my side, never pressuring me to hurry up, but only giving me endless encouragement to heal completely and stand tall in spite of all endless problems or obstacles.
I'm ready to make the typical Animan videos again. And make them, I shall.
