Animan's "Heracles" is still in production, but it's getting there. At most, it will take another month. If I'm lucky, it will be finished before that. Nobody can say at this point!
In the first half of the movie, Heracles must perform 4 labours--that is, he must fight against some monstrous beings and win. Here are the first two of his adversaries.
1. THE NEMEAN LION

ReplyDeleteIn some labours, Heracles must plant his seed in his rival. In other labours, Heracles must receive the rival's energy-giving seed into his own body. Hercules must give and receive in order to have a complete victory!

ReplyDeleteLike...didn't you set to make this film before you entered the hospital? But to be an animator has resulted in you facing many challenges or "Labours" of your own. Like you can think of the Hydra as your struggle to fight against the theft of your work (you take care of one and more appear).

Yes, I did set out to make Heracles shortly before I was hospitalized. I did have my own set of challenges before I recovered.
DeleteEver since people started uploading my videos illegally (a couple years ago), I have since been fighting a never-ending struggle to get the videos removed. A video gets taken off, and next thing you know, some other pirate does the same thing. It is EXACTLY like dealing with the Hydra!
When I made "School Fantasy", I tried to see how fast I could make it. So, I drew the characters with rough lines, and cut every possible corner. Animating a complete film is always a lot of work---and it helps if I can complete it before I get sick of it! My hospitalization caused Heracles to drag on and on. I've had trouble keeping my enthusiasm going over the 5 month production period, but I've tried to make it the best I can.
Oh boy im so excited! but like I always say take your time animan and do what you do best! Im just imagining all these different dudes wrestling and pumping....hope your well :)

Five guys altogether, and that's just one labor? Damn, Heracles is going to be very busy. I'm not much into "furry" stuff (I've nothing against those who are, just stating my opinion) but I really like the way you made the lion into a man who takes big and hairy to a new level! Kudos for your imagination as well, as it makes me wonder how some of the other labors will be re-imagined for our pleasure! Guess I can only wait to find out!
ReplyDeleteThere will be no non-human monsters in this version, which is why the lion and the hydra have been humanized. Not all the big characters will be "furry"--there are so many in this story, I can afford to make some of them non-furries as well!

DeleteAlthough the real Grecian stories have many case of sex between animals and people resulting in animals like the Minotaur, centaurs and other strange beasts, I felt that the fans of Animan were not wanting that, so I adjust the creatures to human form.

When I was drawing comics and illustrations for the Japanese magazine, I became well-acquainted with the work of Tagame, because his comic stories were featured every month. He ranked at the top of all comic artists and illustrators. This "Cretian Cow" story is a very good example, and I didn't even know about it.

DeleteIn the original story of Heracles, the heads of the Hydra were all working together, but they were also moving and acting individually sometimes. This is the plan I used for my version.
