Heracles is far from finished. But in the upcoming posts, I'll be showing drawings of some of the characters. This first scene is the court of King Eurystheus. He's the one who gives Heracles the labours to perform. This building is like the tavern in Animan's Carmen. It has 3D walls, decorated with actual artwork from Ancient Greece.
Glad to see you're back at the tablet, Animan. I wondered if the surgery had sapped some of your desire to structure another narrative and film. Appreciate the previews. I check back here daily to see the latest.
ReplyDeleteHi, Scot. No--the surgery hasn't affected me negatively in that way (or in any other). So why is it taking me so long? This video has more scenes than any I've ever made. It also has more characters, who are quite detailed, and hard-to-draw. It adds up to more and more man-hours. I guess I just got too ambitious for my own good, and set my goal way too high. I have no doubt that I'll complete Hercules--I'm just not sure how much longer it'll take! Nobody wants to see this video completed more than I do!

Wow, I can just see it now, Animan. Hercules enters, gets his labors, and the "special blessing" of the king and all the men surrounding him. Do I just have a very actively randy imagination, or are you just that good at detailing a scene in one shot? Of course, if it is just like the tavern scene from "carmen," then of course there will be pure hot action filling the entire set!

DeleteI'll tell you this much: the King merely observes the labours. Zeus' unpleasant wife Hera can't stand Herk, because he's the result of Zeus fiddling around with an earth woman. So Hera had her old friend the King put Herk through the rigorous trials called "labours". This King has no appealing physical features at all, so sorry, he doesn't get to play. No, I've saved the action scenes for the big hulking boys and the randy littler guys.

And of all the vids that you've done, will it be the longest yet? I'm a huge fan and have all of your videos so I know that if it's taking this long, it's going to be splendiferous lol. ReplyDeleteHi, AJ! This is CAN tell you---the next video will be 13 minutes long. I don't think it's the longest...but it has more stuff to see in it than the other ones---at least that's what I'm aiming for. And that's also why it's taking me longer.
ReplyDeleteThe big delay is caused by my hospitalization--I couldn't make the movie, and my Animan income started to dwindle, so I had to do more outside work, which eats up time and energy--many days I come home too tired to draw. So it has been sort of a vicious cycle. The other reason for the delay is that I want to put as much action in this as possible, which means more characters doing more things. I thank you and all my fans for being so patient at this rough time in Animan's career.
Health-wise, I'm in great shape. I have an abdominal scar, but that's all. I feel wonderful!
