In the Hospital

Hi, Friends. I'm writing this in my hospital room.

I checked into this medical institution yesterday, and was promptly put on a strict diet of nothing! Oh, but I can have water if I'm thirsty. Yippee.

So far, I've had x-rays, an electrodardiogram, a CAT scan (meow), and this afternoon, the doctors are scheduled to go probing with a camera into my 'nether regions' "Where no man has ever ventured before!"  (that would be a lie)--so that they can decide the next step. There's a lot of waiting and I'm hungry, Hungry, HUNGRY! Even a crust of bread would be welcome...

I've been receiving lots of nice e-mails from my fans, through my Selz address. If you have a very personal message, please send it there. If you'd like to send a message to me that I can share with the world, then please send it here.

All messages will be read (and cherished!)

Thanks.:)

  1. Oooh, they didn't tell you that you need to fast ahead of time. I'm sorry that you're hungry and I hope the water helps a bit.

I think this may kill the changes of you wanting to do a hospital flick, lol.

Keep a stiff upper lip and know that there are people out here hoping that you pull through with flying colors. *thumbs up*

    1. Thanks, Jubell! Not wanting to irritate the tumour and keep it from becoming painful, I ate mostly yoghurt since last week. That's why I'm so ravenous, now!
A hospital video can still happen--yesterday, the doctor went in with the camera, and I hardly felt a thing. Probably because he was a young, good-looking doctor (this is true--a Japanese doctor about 31) so it's not all thermometers and needles here!

  2. Animan,

Looks like you've just entered the start of a possibly long process. Don't get me wrong, that statement was not to discourage you though, cause it's meant to remind you that you need to see it as a 'long process towards better health'! I've said before that I've been through similar, but a different kind of event last year, so I can tell how it feels. However, the only thing that jeopardize the whole process, is if and when we get lost and disheartened during this, and start to see things in a negative way. I can tell you one thing, it's NOT. Once again, it's a step by step towards better and greater health, and with better health comes longetivity to be able to do many amazing things in life (that you probably haven't done already). So you need to keep that in mind, and face/endure everything with a smile and a positive point of view.

I was fortunate that I had my family to go through my surgery last year. Having friends and/or family to help get into every stages, works as a moral boost that doesn't only help by elevating our optimism, but dissolve any worries as well. If you ever think you're alone to face this, then please remember that we wouldn't be here and posting our messages if we don't care about your sake. So please don't ever feel that you're on your own, because many people around the globe are praying for your health and well being. We might not be visible through your bare eyes, but we're here supporting you from each of our remote locations. That's what fans and friends are for, right?

Last but not least, this might be odd to read, but do enjoy and savor the possibly long process from preparation to healing. Why is that? Because you probably won't have to go through it the second time, since you'll be all healthier than ever after this is all done with! Happy thoughts, happy heart, brings happy days! Wishing the very best for your next steps, and do keep us updated in your path to better health!

    Cheers!!

    1. Hi Daigo
I appreciate your upbeat and uplifting message! Although I joke and jest and complain about what I'm going through, I have always believed that a positive attitude is the most powerful wonder drug there is; so what you wrote resonates deep within!
I'm glad you reminded me of the many friends of Animan watching over me at this moment--I may not be able to see them, but they are there, and in large numbers (wow, I'm beginning to feel invincible)!
I shall indeed savor my total recovery, however long it may take, for the very reasons you mention.
Thanks so very much for your words of reassurance and healing. They have made a difference.
      Cheers!!

    1. Thank you, Muscleman! Well, those deep probings don't do a thing for me, but at the starting point when the doctor had just inserted the camera and was in the vicinity of the prostate gland, I did feel some little "ripples of pleasure"--and I thought "I wish the whole examination could feel this good!" But it went smoothly and painlessly, and was not a negative thing--so it might as well have been Larry handling the camera.
Today, I got to finally eat--foods that tend to burn up completely, keeping the channel as clean as possible. Thin soup, spinach, rice gruel, potatoes, and some fish. Pretty good for hospital food.
      More updates soon.:)

    1. Hi Blake. So nice of you to drop into Animan's World and leave a message. I'm no longer hungry thanks to the meals they gave me today. The doctors and nurses are all so cheerful and positive, I think I'll be back in business in no time.
      :)

  5. Animan's World. As you can tell I have not looked at your blog almost the whole month. Been very busy, but I surely am sorry to hear you are in the hospital. Hope nothing serious. Surely, while checking your "netherworld", I call it boom boom area, you will be asleep. I will check back, and I wish you the very best. Be up and running again soon. You are probably on iv feeding into your veins. When you are out, you can come to my house and I will treat you to a nice Italian meal.
    Best of luck, Auguri, Felicitaciones

    1. Hey Tony--the other day, when doctors were probing me in the boom boom area, I kept thinking, "Oh...I guess this is the way Tony's colonoscopy was performed!". For the first 2 days, I ate nothing, while they flushed out everything. This weekend I receive meals which easily burn into nothing in the body, but no iv.
I would love to come to your place for Italian food--spagetti, pasta fazul, pizze, ravioli, and strozza preti!

  6. You bet dear friend!!! Surely the colonoscopy is probably done the same way. Their objective is to find polyps and remove them before they become cancerous. Last November foe the first ever they found none. How do I know ? The gastroenterologist said so, BUT I did not wake screaming in spite of the sedation as I did before. I am glad I had it done, I was about 3-4 years overdue.
ENOUGH of me. Glad you are back with a more regular diet, and SOON will be home. When you are, get a ticket to DC. I will come and get you at Dulles International. A Japanese co-worker goes back home yearly, so you can surely do the same.
    A presto!! See you soon.
    Tony

  7. UPDATE FROM ANIMAN
Doctors confirmed the tumour as cancer. The tumour is higher, and almost in the center of the top of the colon. Doctors will cut the cancerous section out and sew the remainder together. I'm on the semi-emergency waiting list, so surgery will take place at about 6 in the morning on Feb 5, New York time.
I'm having trouble getting my Wi-fi to connect--so if I don't answer you guys right away, that's why.
I plan on surviving the surgery, so we can celebrate together 3 years of the Animan blog! Wish me luck!
