Paperback Book Art

In the '50's and '60's, paperback books were very popular. Their popularity was helped by the sometimes lurid cover art. As time went on, there was more and more nudity, and the art became more and more sexy. And some of the art was really strange!

 There's a wonderful site where you can see thousands of paperback book covers from that golden age--it's where these examples came from:

HERE ARE SOME OF ANIMAN'S FAVORITE BOOK COVERS! 
A naked man throws a spear. Real macho.
Looks like a whorehouse. The woman is jeering: "Nyah nyah! This customer wants ME, not you! Better luck next time!"
It's got a catchy Dutch title: "Happiness Children of Cloverleaf Castle". The blood-red lips are so cool and the castle towers are so very phallic.
"He sowed his seed in the Garden of Eros".  Animan loves it!
This is so classy--it looks like a scene out of an opera.
She's dressed but he's nude--I like it that way. 
More naked men with spears. 
Animan saved the best for last.

    I like "Conduct Unbecoming", looks like he's being court martialed for tweaking Teddy Roosevelt's nipples

      It's something I might have done myself if our paths had crossed, I have his portrait tattooed on my leg. I'd have given him a rough ride. David

    Being into bears, and Teddy being the originator of the teddy bear craze did it, I'm into Papa Hemmingway too, I have his portrait tattooed as well. David

    70% of my body is tattooed, though not all bears, just one leg of hairy heroes, including Santa. It's my job
