Thanks to all of you who bought Heracles! From 5:30 pm to 2:00 am, (my time) I was at my computer, manually filling orders. I went to bed exhausted, and left a message on the download page.
I got up at 5:30 am and found more orders waiting. One buyer had become impatient, and complained to the company handling the money part of the transaction. I found THIS in my e-mail box:
To "punish" me, the amount was deducted from my account. Good morning to me.
I NO longer have a Selz shop. I do NOT have the luxury of automated downloads right now. I have to send out each order by hand. I'm human--I have to use the restroom, walk around, and sometimes take a break or even sleep (Heaven forbid!) Work with me, people!
Here's something important that was brought to my attention: on the download page of Sendspace, there's a little box that appears under the words "By downloading......" One buyer checked it as you can see, and he got a load of problems. The downloaded file was not mp4, but rather "exe". He couldn't play it! So please, don't let this happen to you! Uncheck the little box!

I think I speak for all your fans when I say that I hope you don't let a few impatient jerks and all the headache that you have gone through lately stop you from bringing your art to life. I truly appreciate all that you do and all that you continue to do. You have yet to disappoint.
I hope that after Hercules, you will be able to find a similar set up to what you had with Selz so that you can get some rest.

DeleteI'm so used to being spoiled by the Friends of Animan, that anything less comes as a humongous shock to my system! Even the fellow who filed that complaint was kind enough to buy my movie, and I thank him for that.
As you say, it would be nice to get a similar set up to what Selz had. Even with that system, I had to occasionally step in and re-send videos, or send messages to make things right. But I enjoy talking to the buyers.

I did pressed the button which got me an .exe file as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was one of those files that you have to use that downloads the file after you open the program (like on cnet).
Instead it filled my computer with adware programs (so many!) that I ended up using malwarebytes to get ride of all of them. Because even after you uninstall the programs they're still there. It was crazy. So if that happens to anyone else - they really need to do a sweep on their computer with spybot of malwarebytes.
As for everything else - yikes. That's why I think you hooking up with Class Comics' online store would be a good idea.
Otherwise you need a big banner that says you'll fulfill orders within 48 hours. That way people will rest easy - and you have time to LIVE. You could even let people know that you only fulfill orders on certain days (like every other day of the week Mon, Wed, Friday).
Wow, I'm sorry that you were attacked by that nasty ol' exe file monster. Why do people set things up that way? Sheeesh.
DeleteI wrote an e-mail to Class Comics, and we shall see what they say. Perhaps it's like Marvel Comics--where the publisher takes over the copyrights of the characters from the creators. Hmmm. We'll have to see.

ReplyDeleteI feel just awful about this. I have paid the download site for the privilege of using their download service. I emphasize the word SERVICE. I use it for the sake of those who pay me. I trust the site. And how am I rewarded for my patronage and trust? Download pages that deliberately mislead valued customers, causing them to unwittingly download a computer full of cyber shit. Whatever happened to good old honest business practices? Too much trouble? Is dishonesty the only option now? Good God.
