How's the Next Video Cumming?

The All-Star Video is still in production. Animan never realized what a big undertaking this would be!  A couple of roles for supporting actors are also mixed in--like this barbecue cook. To keep up the suspense, a couple of major characters have been removed from this picture--all that's left of them are the little blue and yellow dots! They'll be in the finished movie, though!

ANIMAN'S FAVORITE 3D MOVIE OF THE YEAR

Animan is super tired of the typical movies they make nowadays: helicopters crashing into buildings, car chases on bridges, mass destruction, psychopathic meatballs killing innocent people by the thousands, gangsters with machine guns, etc. Science fiction that is as yucky as it is strange. Just the same old hat with a brand-new face. Ho-hum.

Animan's favorite movie of the year is PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS

So, WHY does Animan love this movie?
1. It's got a great premise, and great characters (kids who are half-bloods: half human and half Greek god)
2. The characters set out on a classic-style quest that takes them to unexpected places and beings. It's a REAL honest-to-goodness adventure.
3. Greek mythology is a giant world in itself, and this film deals with some of that in an entertaining way.
4. Animan is fascinated by the centaur!
5. The actor who plays the half-blood cyclops (Douglas Smith) is cute as a button!
6. It's fantastic in 3D!
Unfortunately, this film is not doing well at the box-office, which often happens with Animan's favorite movies. Today's audiences want stories about the modern world's drug culture, automatic weapons in the wrong hands, and anything that crashes, burns and snuffs out lives. There are already thousands of such movies available everywhere. But Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is cool in its own way. It has integrity and sincerity, stylish design, some cool animation and characters I want to see more of! Call me a foolish dreamer, but I'll be very unhappy if they don't make a series of sequels to these movies.
This is Animan's #1 favorite movie of the year, 3D or not! It's high-quality adventurous entertainment. Definitely worth admission price. Animan is planning to go back to the theater and see it again.

  1. Sorry you feel that way about movies today, Animan. Personally, I don't have a certain taste for movies anymore; ever since taking a film history course in college, I became fascinated with a whole variety of genre and style from over the decades such that I really couldn't say what type of movie I enjoy best. I suppose that also contributed to my tendency to speculate and read into scenes as much as I can; like when you put up a new picture every now and then! I see this pic with the barbecue cook and I get thinking up a whole slew of ideas for how that scene plays out, especially wondering which two main stars are there, likely anticipating a "hot piece of meat" from him. Seriously though, if that omission was for suspense, it's working. But you could probably tell that from everything I've said here and before!

    1. I think all types of films are valid entertainment--but I also think movie content should be eclectic. Recently, it seems that the "overkill" type of film, containing plenty of explosions and murder, is what most modern audiences want. Good for them. Animan prefers a different type. The Greek mythology theme I mention in the blog has its own share of amazing events, with colorful characters, and has really stood the test of time. For centuries, people have given these stories their undying attention, investing the tales with an irresistible subliminal power. It's something classic, coming back bigger, better and stronger! That's what turns Animan on like crazy!
I just found out that there was another Percy Jackson movie released back in 2010: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. It's not in 3D but no big. I just ordered the Blu-Ray online. The trailer looks pretty darn kewl!

I'm glad that the occasional Animan picture posted on this blog stimulates your imagination! That's pretty much the way it is for me too, whenever I settle on a theme for an Animan video, be it Carmen's Spain, Superhero's Nocturnal City, or a WWII tropical island. I always start getting all sorts of ideas, and it's a big part of the fun.

Make no mistake, the Animan All-Stars will feature plenty of meat, barbecued and raw!

  2. Even if they don't continue with those movies you can always get into the book series. It came before the movies and I believe it's still going on? I think last I checked they were on book 7 or 9 (which means the movie series has some catching up to do).

I haven't seen the movies yet but I just might since you suggested it, hehe.

But I'm not much a movie person either. There's too much...too much.

    1. Hi Jubell! Very often, movies based on a book series disappear after just one movie, but I'm happy to say that there are already two Percy Jackson movies made--the latest one in 3D. So maybe there's still hope.
Anyway, when I came out of the theater after watching Sea of Monsters, I felt great, and cool scenes from the movie were running through my mind. How very unlike my reaction to a lot of "shoot-'em-up-kill-'em-all" movies, where I leave the theater totally drained, and in a big hurry to forget the ordeal I've just been through!

    1. Hi Muscleman! You might enjoy it! In the first movie, Dylan Neal played Hermes, but in the second one, the role is played by Nathan Fillion. I think he has the "Animan" look, don't you?

    3. This is a huge promising area for commercial successful art for Animan -to give new life in the animation for the famous images in the photo and video industry
Especially it would be interesting to implement a potential in BOTTOMS roles in the animation for

    2. One of Animan's greatest joys in making these films is having friends all over the world who share his tastes. There seem to be no boundaries. It's truly an international, "Golden Age"!

  7. Of all the characters I hope will litter the background of the All-Stars video, The Snapping guy from the Twist party is number 1. I got a kick out of seeing him walking by at the end presumably naked, but just as into the beats playing as when he was clothed.

  10. It was a fun movie, and I saw the first as well. I've enjoyed less popular fantasy action movies (Immortals, 47 Ronin). But the books are quite enjoyable. Hope the movie franchise is successful enough to keep going. Nathan Fillion was awesome as usual. Look forward to seeing more of your work!
